World Music Day: An Event That Began In France

This French event is very popular for several reasons. One, participation in the event is free (i. e. musicians perform for free and the public can enjoy attending the event without paying any fees). Two, anyone with a talent for music (young or old) can take part in the event. Three, soloists, duets or groups are encouraged to participate. And four, the participants can interpret or interpret any type or type of music. The promotional slogan of the event – “Faites de la musique” (to make music) – is appropriate in this regard.

Another important thing that contributes to the popularity of the event is the laziness with which the venues are chosen. What this means is that the event can be held almost anywhere: in the streets, in the halls of public buildings, in parks, in train stations or even in historic castles. Of these, the streets of France are the favorite places for many participants.

The idea behind the launch of Fête de la Musique (and its annual celebration) is to enliven the atmosphere with the liberal expression of all kinds of music: avant, country, fantastic, hip hop, instrumental, jazz, Latin, pop, techno, a trans. It is an opportunity for people of all ages and from all social backgrounds to communicate through music. Any such event undoubtedly promises a special moment for all.

As the event tends to attract a broad turnout from the thousands of amateur and professional musicians in France, it aims to attract a large audience. Both are possible because people are music lovers by nature and expressing yourself through music is a great way to release internal charges. In this regard, it is worth mentioning here that some of the concerts of the day are held in hospitals or prisons to encourage patients/inmates, even for a few hours.

The event can also serve as a channel for the transfer and exchange of different styles of music between cities or regions. For this, the participation of large musical groups (choirs or orchestras) is important and therefore encouraged. Similarly, based on past events, young musicians have the opportunity to meet outstanding musical talents and learn many things from them.

From France, World Music Day has spread to cities in other countries. These include Brisbane (Australia), Sulaymaniyah (Iraqi Kurdistan), Tel Aviv and Jerusalem (Israel), Glasgow and Edinburgh (Scotland), London (England) and New York City and Cambridge (United States).

World music day celebrations in many cities outside France were initially organized by the French embassies in those places. Thereafter, the local organizers took over and the date of the event was held on June 21st.

Apart from the usual hours of the Fête de la Musique, amateur musicians can still perform in public places. However, French authorities can impose noise restrictions or stop concerts altogether in areas where the general public can call to stop such performances.
